This guy just found out how awesome his library is. It’s so tough to market all that the library has to offer. I think part of the task is that, at least with college libraries, there isn’t a stable population. If you get one class of students to know all about databases, ILL, document delivery, etc, they’ll leave in four years and you have to get advertising again. The needs of different segments of your population are so different, too, that you have to market on all angles. It’s always surprising to me that so many people assume the person behind the reference desk might only have a high school diploma, when so many have multiple graduate degrees.
